“Where’s the toilet?”The one question that brought forth the birth of this project when we realised there was none on our casual visit to Kampung Jawa Kerling, KKB. Instead we were required to find a nice spot in the bushes to do our business. This was our first exposure to the marginalised “Orang Asli” (indigenous folk) and their lack of basic amenities.
Project EPIC is our first effort to lend a hand to the Orang Asli in the form of basic amenities and to help give them a new paint job, doors and window panes. It will be held at Kampung Jawa, Kerling, Kuala Kubu Bahru (approximately 1 hour drive from KL) on the 21st and 22nd of January 2009.
This event is open to anyone!
We will be requiring many budding painters, and builders to make this successful. This will be a wonderful opportunity to give what we can, and that would be our time, and youthful strength. In return, we will be guaranteed a fun, interesting and fulfilling experience, and hopefully take back some painting, building and fixing skills which we would be able to reapply in future projects.
We aim to collect Rm6k to help us acquire all the tools necessary. We are also seeking 50 willing pairs of hands who would help us transform this village.
